During his recent visit to Cairo, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of strengthening the longstanding diplomatic ties between China and Egypt. As the two nations celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations, Xi, along with his wife Peng Liyuan, was received by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his wife. Xi’s visit underscores the enduring nature of the relationship amidst shifting global dynamics.
In a message released before his arrival, Xi highlighted the resilience of the China-Egypt partnership over the decades and called for the advancement of their comprehensive strategic alliance. He urged the two countries to explore new avenues of collaboration, particularly under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. As prominent members of the Global South, both countries, according to Xi, have a significant role in promoting multilateral cooperation and contributing to global peace and stability. He called for enhanced coordination on international matters and joint efforts to bolster global security.
