by admin477351

In a bid to enhance their longstanding partnership, Taiwan and Belize have signed two significant agreements during Taiwanese Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung’s three-day visit to the Central American nation. The agreements were finalized following discussions between Lin and Belizean Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca, focusing on expanding bilateral cooperation.

A key outcome of the visit is the establishment of the Taiwan-Caribbean Academy, as marked by a letter of intent signed between the University of Belize and Taiwan’s International Cooperation and Development Fund. This new academy aims to promote technical and vocational education, sustainable tourism, and economic cooperation among Taiwan’s diplomatic partners in the region. With its headquarters at the University of Belize, the academy will benefit from the involvement of Taiwanese universities in developing curricula and planning faculty contributions.

In addition to the educational endeavor, another agreement was signed to enhance cooperation in the training of diplomatic staff. This initiative is designed to improve the professional skills and capabilities of Belize’s foreign service personnel, thereby strengthening the diplomatic relationship between the two nations.

The agreements underscore Taiwan’s commitment to fostering closer ties with its allies in the Caribbean, reflecting a strategic effort to build stronger regional partnerships. Both countries look forward to the tangible benefits that these initiatives will bring in terms of education and international diplomacy.
