The policy, first introduced last year, remains unchanged, requiring Taiwanese visitors who wish to stay beyond the 14-day limit to secure a visa prior to their arrival.
Officials have highlighted that this extension aligns with the Philippine government’s commitment to maintaining reciprocal visa agreements, as Taiwanese citizens can enter the Philippines without a visa, just as Filipinos enjoy the same privilege when visiting Taiwan. This mutual arrangement is seen as a way to reinforce friendly ties and promote greater movement between the two countries.
In an effort to attract more visitors from Taiwan, the Philippines is working on expanding flight connections and showcasing a broader range of travel destinations beyond the well-known spots like Palawan. By emphasizing the diverse experiences available across the country, the Philippines aims to draw more Taiwanese tourists to explore its lesser-known regions and attractions.
Recent tourism statistics reveal a significant rise in the number of Taiwanese visitors, with nearly 94,000 traveling to the Philippines during the first five months of the year. This marks an increase compared to the same period last year, positioning Taiwan as one of the leading sources of international tourists to the Philippines.
